The naming of the 13-man squad follows the recent selection of 24 players who were called to commence training two weeks ago. The players have since been practising on weekends at the Greenland Ground in East End.

This year, the BVI will be playing in the tournament as an independent team, rather than combining with the USVI as the Combined Virgin Islands, as was being done in recent years.

In the three-day games, the BVI will play in Zone A against Nevis, St. Maarten and Anguilla. Zone B comprises Antigua, St. Kitts, Montserrat and USVI. However, the one-day tournament has not been divided into zones, meaning that the BVI will have to play 50-over matches against each of the other participating teams.

For the three-day games, each team will face each other once in their respective zones, with the top two teams from each zone playing in the final. For the one-day segment, the teams will converge in St. Kitts in late August early/September.

The 13-man squad is Sheldon John, Lennox Sammuel, Maxford Pipe, Dorian Auguiste, Vishal Bharat, Austin McDowell, Neil Niles, Bront DeFreitas, Vaden Walker, Bryan Daley, Dennisford Brown, Kwesi Sinclair and Daniel Singh.

The BVICA has announced that it will name the captain and vice captain later this week, while the manager/coach is Charlie Jackson, who is also vice president of the association. The BVI’s first game is against Nevis on July 17.
