(Photos by Gordon French)Guns eked out a one point victory against Bad Boys on Saturday in a game that could have swung either way, but was finally decided when Kelvin Samuel, who led the Bad Boys scoring with 18 points, missed two free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining in the game.

A steal by Guns’ Chaurbin Smith at half court with under 20 seconds reaming, led to a lay-up and a foul to seal a Guns 68-67 win against Bad Boys, who continues to struggle this season after reaching the finals of last year’s playoffs.

“It was a very good game, a highly contested game and is probably the best defensive and offensive game we have played all season. They became a lot stagnant in the third quarter, but in the fourth quarter they went back to what worked for them and they won down the stretch,” said Guns’ coach, Derwin Scatliffe.

Guns’ Randy ‘ Chino’ George had a game high 22 points and 14 rebounds, in addition to 3 blocks and 1 assist. Steve Parillon added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 assists for the Guns, while Smith added another 10 points.

Apart from Samuel, Bad Boys had four other players in double digits, including Marlon Meyers, 14 points, Eustace ‘Boss” Freeman, 12 points and Nathaniel Malone, 12 points.

Meanwhile, Outkast overcame a 10 point half time deficit to close within 2 points in the fourth quarter before falling to Finishers 83-80.

Finishers’ Nicols Charles led all scores with 25 points and dished out 2 assists. Gerald Vanterpool and Alton Vanterpool had 18 and 17 points respectively for the Finishers. Roger Frank led the scores for Outkast with 22 points and had assistance from Gregg Massicote 18 points. Kirk Adams and Natalio Wheatley had 11 points each for Outkast.

In the opening game on Saturday evening, And One led by Shamori Morgan’s 31 points, punished Another level 77-64. Ryan Mills had 17 points and Dequan Bryon had 13 for And One. Kenrick Thomas led the scoring for Another Level with 14 points.

In Sunday’s action, Squad Up defeated Top Shottas 72-55, Rams pounced Young Gunners 46-38 and The Saints defeated All Ball 64-53.
