Ghiorse has joined a group called Team Research Riders which focuses on raising funds for pediatric medical research. In March 2008, Ghiorse lost his 4- month-old baby daughter, Giselle, to a rare genetic disease. After spending two weeks in the Holtz Childrens Hospital in
Ghiorse said he is looking forward to the ride, though he is a little apprehensive about riding in the cold altitude of the Colorado Rockies. Luckily it is not a race so I can put on tons of layers and not worry about speed up the mountains, Ghiorse noted. At present, he has raised just over $11,000. Being a competitive soul Ghiorse said he would love to raise a little more to make it into third overall in terms of fundraising efforts. He projects this will take at least $15,000, and possibly put the BVI on the map for such a worthy cause. Ghiorse has a personal webpage where donations can be made towards this cause at: http://www.couragetours.com/2008/chrisghiorse More information about the hospital and event are available at: www.couragetours.com Comments (0)
