British Virgin Island sailor Alec Anderson has just finished up the 4-day Laser Radial North Americans in San Francisco Bay finishing an impressive 10th overall out of the fleet of 85 at the ripe age of 17 years old.

San Francisco Bay is one of the Mecca's of sailing known around the world for strong winds, strong tides and currents, as well as heavy traffic from cargo and passenger ships that make the area a true test of endurance and skill. Over the four day event, the "Bay" did not fail its competitors.

With steady winds ranging from 18-25 knots, and current as strong as 3-4 knots at times, Alec showed that his speed and ability is at the highest level not only for his age, but for his class sailed the Laser Radial, which is the feeder boat for the Olympic Class Laser Standard.

The Fleet was split after the first two days of competition into the Gold and Silver fleets, with Alec sitting in 9th overall he would easily make his way into the gold fleet. The following two days of competition would see some varying scores amongst the competitors.

Alec would drop 9 spots on the second last day to sit 19th going into the final day. The last day of racing would boast some of Alec's best finishes from the regatta with him being able to drop his previous day's results and take back the places he lost on the day before to sit in 10th overall.

Alec would also be the top Caribbean sailor beating out sailors from the other islands including St.Thomas.
