The Geneva-based International Baccalaureate (IB) recently authorised
The Middle Years Programme is for students ages 11 16 and designed to help them develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world. Five areas of interaction are embedded in the core subjects and allow for connections between the different subjects. The areas of interaction include health and social education, human ingenuity, approaches to learning, community and service and environment. Scott Hibbard, Director of Cedar International School, said it is a great accomplishment for the Cedar community. With MYP, we are confident that our students will be better equipped to deal with the rapidly changing world around them. The IB programmes offer so much more than just a curriculum framework. They offer a holistic approach to learning that helps our young people develop intercultural awareness and become active, compassionate and lifelong learners, Hibbard noted. Cedar International School is the only school in the Territory to offer the challenging programmes of the International Baccalaureate. The school is currently working on implementation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). If approved to teach PYP, Cedar would join only a handful of schools worldwide to be authorised to teach all three IB programmes from kindergarten through grade 12. Comments (0)
