Felando Lewis
A seemingly shy young man, Felando Lewis, has a powerful voice that could rival the likes of R&B sensation Chris Brown. This 25-year old Nevis native now living in the USVI is living out the dream – his passion for singing and writing.

I caught up with Lewis also known as Fella Million during a brief visit to the Territory to be a guest on a televised interview on Channel 55.

Blessed with the musical talent at an early age, Lewis recalls ‘messing’ around with his friends in an after-school programme in the USVI where the Director of the Camp Glenn Pringle approached him about his vocals.

“He had a lot of faith in me and encouraged me to participate in the Junior Calypso competition. It was then I took all the ideas that were floating around in my head and I won the junior competition title in 1999 and then again in 2000.”

He won with songs that he wrote, “Too Much Violence” and “Wake Up”.

Actually it was amazing to Lewis that people appreciated his songs and his urged to write torpedoed to new heights.

In 2001, he gained even more recognition for his range in vocals when he performed at Star Fest. He then joined a group called “Too Much”.  “This is one event that really challenges you and I was able to deliver because I was able to make the transition from Calypso into the world of Hip Hop and R&B,” Lewis recalled.

So what made him go solo? It was during a performance at Club Insomnia when Rock City ’s Manager was impressed with Lewis’ talent, “And I just went on from there with my first solo “Where Is He?” in 2003".

After receiving rave reviews and a steadily growing fan base, Lewis began to write and record other singles including Time Love, Can’t See Why and Candy Girl.

Also a believer of not resting on his laurels, Lewis has used his creative writing skills to do a few commercials that are aired in the USVI. He also writes songs for other VI artistes as well.

Additionally, Fella Million is in talks with the Rude Boy Entertainment and he is waiting on a meeting to see what they have to offer.

So sooner or later the VI will be hearing a lot from this really talented young man.
