President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dr Julian Hunte has been appointed chairman Governance Review Committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC). ICC President David Morgan announced details Sunday of the ICC’s committee structure for the next 12 months and Hunte has been designated chairmanship of the Governance Committee from later this month.

An ICC release stated that the Dr Hunte will take over the position from October 24, replacing the Australian Creagh O’Connor. The Governance Review Committee is responsible for considering and reviewing issues relating to the corporate governance of the ICC. Other members of the committee are India’s Shashank Manohar, Major General Sina Ibn Jamali, of Bangladesh, Peter Chingoka, of Zimbabwe, and Singapore’s Imran Khwaja.

The ICC release said in addition to the Cricket Committee, whose members were appointed previously: “there are four other main committees, namely the Audit Committee, Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee, Governance Review Committee and the HR and Remuneration Committee”.

The ICC Audit Committee will be an independent body.

“Following the resignation of chairman Sir John Anderson, Alan Isaac from New Zealand has been appointed to replace him. The rest of the committee will be made up of the ethics officer, Thandi Orleyn from South Africa, and two other independent members, London-based Indian Birendra Agarwal and one other, who will be nominated shortly,” the ICC release said.
