An extensive police operation was carried out over the weekend by the Anti-Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the East End Policing Division and the Police Task Force.

The operation, which focused mainly on intelligence gathering, was carried out during the early hours of Sunday morning in Josiah’s Bay in the area where Edread Stoutt and Glen Industrious Jr. were killed the previous week.

The team which included the Commissioner of Police Reynell Frazer, carried out road blocks, searches and interviewed several persons during the operation. Officers were seeking persons who may have witnessed the crime or could provide information relevant to the case.

“We don’t necessary feel anyone we interviewed participated in the crime but we hoped that through this operation we may have witnesses with the kind of information that could help us to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Acting Superintendent Alwin James said.

The team which included the new U.K. officers was pleased with the cooperation given by those who were in the area.

“We had total support. We now beginning to see a community coming together to break the silence surrounding crime,” James said.

While no information can be released on the results, the Superintendent said that the operation was worthwhile.

Meanwhile, the two suspects who were held following the double murder were released after police failed to gather enough information to link the men to the crime. The two men who were gunned down shortly after leaving a club in the area will be laid to rest on during a joint funeral service which is scheduled to take place at the Road Town Methodist Church.
