The Christian Council in collaboration with a number of social partners (Lions, Leo’s, Rotaracters/Rotary, and others) in the Territory will be staging a “March and Rally” against crime and violence on Saturday November 1, 2008, at 4: 00 p.m. at the Band Stand in Long Bush.

The Christian belief in the sanctity of human life is derived from the doctrine of God as creator. Humankind was made in God’s image.

Our worth to God implies the duty of cherishing, protecting and preserving human life.

The community awoke on Sunday October 12, to the sad news of the brutal slaying of two young men, the third in less than three days, and the eight for the year. The community is expressing concern about what is happening in this fair land of ours.

Citizens and residents of the Virgin Islands , it is instructive for us to remind you that God remains the absolute owner of all lives. The BVI Christian Council does not condone any type of criminal activity. We deplore and condemn the senseless and deliberate acts of violence in the Territory.

The BVI Christian Council calls upon all citizens and residents of these Virgin Islands to respect and act responsibly towards each other. Further, we are asking all to corporate with the law enforcement authority to bring about speedy resolution to the many unsolved crimes in our community.

The BVI Christian Council wish to remind all that the command of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to “Love our neighbor as ourselves” is not an option, but a mandate.

The BVICC would like to extend sincerest sympathy to the grieving families. We believe that these words from the forty – sixth Psalm “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble,” presents to you the family comforting words in this time of turbulence.

May the good and faithful God bless and comfort us throughout these difficult and perilous times.

Pastor Vankys J. Isaac

President

B. V. I. Christian Council
