First prizewinner, Sharon Balkissoon relaxes on her new bed
Three grocery shoppers walked away with prizes during the Onemart’s “Customer Christmas Giveaway” promotion. Trinidadian Sharon Balkissoon who is an employee of Medicure, won the first prize. Her prize of an Ashley six-piece bedroom set included a queen sleigh bed, two night stands, dresser, mirror and mattress.

Kasha Maduro uplifted the second prize of a Frigidaire 17-inch cubic Top Mount refrigerator on behalf of Kennel Fahie who was too camera shy to uplift his prize in person.

Mary Adams won for herself the third prize of a $300 gift certificate.

“I always shop at Onemart and the prize has come at a good time,” said an overjoyed Balkissoon who had spent $330 in grocery to win her prize.

In accepting the second prize, Maduro said for the first time her family decided to do all their Christmas shopping at Onemart.

They had shopped $250 worth of items and while they are deciding what to do with the new addition, Maduro said they are surprised and elated.

A beaming Adams said that while she won with her receipt of groceries, she had also purchased a washing machine from Onemart.

“I was surprised when they called me to tell me I won…I have been on the island for 19 years now and this is the first time that I have won something,” Maduro said as she smiled uncontrollably.

Her winning receipt was in the amount of $170.

To enter the promotion, shoppers had to spend a minimum of $100. Once they were eligible, they had to write their names, addresses and phone numbers at the back of the receipt and place into the promotional box from where the winning receipts were drawn.

Marketing Coordinator, Sandra Smith, said every year since 2004, Onemart has been holding Christmas promotions and plans are being crafted to have another promotion before Christmas this year.
