Armed bandits operating in the wee hours on Sunday morning robbed two popular nightspots in Road Town, carting off with an undisclosed amount of cash and discharging several rounds at one of the clubs.

The Police Information Office confirmed that the first armed robbery took place at the newly opened Blue Magic Night Club located below Chillin’s Café, Baughers Bay - where a Promotional Show was being held.

At about 4:25 a.m. while the host of the Promotional Show was about to close, two armed men entered the premises and took the evenings takings at gunpoint, police stated.

The men who were dressed in dark coloured clothing and wearing black masks, then made their escape on foot in the direction of the nearby parking lot.

Shortly after their escape, police confirmed that another armed robbery took place –this time at the Crystal Night Club in

Free Bottom Road
.

About 6:00 a.m. on the said day, two armed mask men attempted to enter the Crystal Night Club.

They were prevented from doing so as the door of the club was locked before they could enter.

The perpetrators then proceeded to rob a number of persons immediately outside the club of cash and personal items, police said.

During the course of the robbery a number of shots were fired but according to police, no one was injured.

“At this time it is not believed that the shots were fired at any persons but believed to have been warning shots designed to intimidate the person being robbed,” a statement from the police information desk stated.

The men then made their escape on foot towards Free Bottom. Due to the similar descriptions of the perpetrators and the close proximity of the crimes, police believe that they are related.

The police are appealing to persons with information, specifically persons who may have been in the area of any of the incidents at the time to call the police hotline (1-800-744-8477) or give the information to any police officer.

What’s the point of expressing bewilderment at the state of violent crime increase in these islands if we are not prepared to do something about it? Gun crimes seem to have gone out of control. Ninety percent of these types of criminal activity have gone as mysteries. No one knows who done it.
