President Obama says the new jobs report "is actually better than expected."
A jobs report released Friday said the unemployment rate held at 9.7 percent last month as employers shed 36,000 jobs, more than the 26,000 cut in January. Obama blamed snowstorms that buried the East Coast.
Even so, the president said the number of unemployed Americans is "more than we should tolerate" and pushed Congress to pass a jobs bill for immediate relief.

The United States is in the process of working on a proposed Energy Governance and Capacity Initiative (EGCI) for countries on the verge of becoming oil and gas producers for the next decade. Guyana is on the list of such countries and on Thursday Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the US Department of State David Goldwyn met President Bharrat Jagdeo at State House to discuss the proposal which will include the provision of technical assistance to empower countries to wisely manage resources and revenue generated from oil and gas.

- Christopher pulled from Commonwealth Games
The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC) is unmoved in its decision to omit cyclist, Darel Christopher Jr., from the BVI team that would be participating in October’s Commonwealth Games set for Delhi, India. The BVI Cycling Federation (BVICF) during a press conference on Monday afternoon at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the BVIOC has handled the situation.

- Residents and staff to be relocated
As a result of prior repairs to the Adina Donovan Home (ADH), it was observed that there were other structural deficiencies in the building that require immediate attention. As such, the Ministry of Health and Social Development contracted the services of Systems Engineering Ltd. (Systems) in June 2010 to carry out a structural assessment.
