After two rounds of territory-wide competitions, the new 2010 BVI National Culinary Team chefs have been selected.

Being hailed as the “Dream Team”, the 2010 team cooking chefs will be Imran Ashton of Charlie’s; Shermit Green of Little Dix Bay Resort; Peter Hamil of Long Bay Beach Resort; Kenneth Molyneaux of Treasure Isle Hotel; and George Ward of the Bitter End Yacht Club.  Chefs that also competed were Patrick Williams, Pete Barrett, Krystal O’Neal and Lorna Richards.   The team pastry chefs are Ansony Salmon of Peter Island Resort; Mac Thompson of HLSCC; and Neville Tucker of Long Bay Beach Resort.  After two competition rounds last November, Elton Sprauve of the Mine Shaft Restaurant & Pub and Wycliffe Gumbs of The Boathouse were named Team bartenders.

The BVI Culinary Team has won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in previous years at regional competitions, including Taste of the Caribbean, and aims to capture another Gold Medal for the BVI in 2010.

In the months leading up to June’s Taste of the Caribbean competition in Puerto Rico, the Team will be showcasing their skills through a series of mock competition dinners.  The general public is invited to attend and support the Team.  The dates and venues will be published when confirmed. For tickets and other information, persons can contact the BVICCHA Office on 494- 3514 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Taste of the Caribbean challenges the creativity and international expertise the Team and features a mystery basket competition among 14 regional Caribbean teams.  The event also provides continuing culinary education through seminars, workshops, tastings and demonstrations created to enhance performance, style and profitability in food and beverage operations.

The BVI Culinary Team’s presenting sponsor is BVICCHA. The Team has consistently received unswerving support and sponsorship from The Premier’s Office, BVI Tourist Board, Road Town Wholesale, Department of Agriculture, and H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.  Others are encouraged to support the Team as it strives to bring home the Gold.
