At 25, Stacy Hodge has already set up two businesses of her own and has her eyes set on propelling into a more extensive line in the near future. Hodge is the proprietor of Elegant Interiors and J &S Cleaning and Maintenance Services which she only started two months ago. With a passion for hard work and getting dirty, this young business woman does not make it an issue to lift, move and help re-decorate or coordinate any type of maintenance, cleaning or repair job. She is available to re-do kitchens, a small office or even entire homes. “There is no job that is too small for me,” said the smiling young woman. “I can do the whole works of decorating, from interior to exterior and ceiling to floor.” As a young child, Hodge said she had a passion for hair dressing, but always had a knack for home décor fashion and would find herself cutting out pieces of decors from magazines and marveling at the designs. However, it was when she started working at Caribbean Realty that she realized what she really wanted to do. “I love doing repairs and maintenance and decorating,” she disclosed and said she had always planned that whenever she left the company, she would start her own business. Hodge said her biggest problem was getting the funds to finance her business, but that was quickly overcome because she was already known in her field by many persons. In addition, Hodge said she did not leave her former employer on a bad note, which has made it easy for her to transcend into her business. “Right now I am going through the challenge of getting my business out there, and saying I am here and offering this service,” said the very dedicated businesswoman. Hodge who is very passionate about her work said she enjoys getting fully engrossed in what she does. “I love the hard part of it actually putting it together. I like to get dirty and do the dirty work. I like to be on roofs, empty pools etc, name it and I am there. I like to do what some guys think they alone can do,” said the strong headed young woman. Hodge said she already has a team of workers who are ready for any job. They include masons, plumbers, gardeners, contractors, electricians, water delivery and upholstery workers among others. The cadre of experienced workers are readily available to do all your interior decorating, cleaning and maintenance work including, but not limited to decorating consultation, home staging – improve a home for sale or rental (an ease and cheaper way to decorating), home preparation, project management, gardening service, home/office inspection for repairs, overseas shopping, home and office cleaning, and general maintenance and repairs. Hodge who possesses a certificate in interior decorating said she truly enjoys interior decorating for homes and businesses, and party planning. She said she loves decorating, mixing colours, matching and everything to do with decorating. She is currently pursuing a certificate in home remodeling. For those who may question her age and ability to do quality and profession work, Hodge challenge them to come forward and try her service. “Even though I am young, I am hardworking and very ambitious as a young local businesswoman. They are always saying they want the young people get out and do their own thing and in my thing there is a standard I want to set for people out there and even though I am young I can still do this too. It is just my ambition, drive and dedication and I love doing it. I think that would set me apart from the rest,” she said. Her advice to young people who want to get into their own business is: “Don’t be afraid of anything. Even though you are young and its something you want to do, don’t let anything hold you back from accomplishing your dream, go out there and do it. If something you want to do go ahead and do it and do so to the best of your ability.” For more information and appointments, Hodge can be reached on telephone 541-5760 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
