Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Julian Fraser, has defended Permanent Secretary in the Works Ministry, Julian Willock, who was sent on compulsory leave by Governor David Pearey following a Beacon newspaper article that accused the PS of employing persons for his online news site without work permits.

The government has decided to repatriate all of the 65 illegal migrants who were caught last week on Norman Island;  the captain of the vessel will be charged.

This is according to Deputy Controller of Customs Dean Fahie who told The Standpoint that the captain has been identified, and as soon as statements have been taken from the migrants and the captain, charges will be levied.
