- Christopher pulled from Commonwealth Games
The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC) is unmoved in its decision to omit cyclist, Darel Christopher Jr., from the BVI team that would be participating in October’s Commonwealth Games set for Delhi, India. The BVI Cycling Federation (BVICF) during a press conference on Monday afternoon at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the BVIOC has handled the situation.

Sprinter Darnetia Robinson placed seventh in the Youth Olympic Games 100 meters final on Saturday in Singapore, during the games that runs though Aug 26. Robinson, 17, had a time of 12.06 seconds, in the competition that targets 16-17 year olds. Robinson, who was third in her preliminary heat in 12.04 seconds, had the eight fastest time overall, thus qualifying for the A final from which the medal winners emerged.

For the third consecutive year, Vincy reached the finals of the domestic 20/20 championship. In the first of the semi-finals played in the Nagico 20/20 Cricket League, Vincy skipped past New Testament Church of God (NTCOG) by eight runs under the D/L rule as rains threatened to postpone play on the Virgin Gorda sward.

After placing fourth in her Ceres Juices 10K Series debut last month, Maria Mays opened lots of eyes.
With the top finishers ahead of her absent for Saturday afternoon’s race through Road Town, Mays running a steady pace erased Zebalon McLean and Ian Mann’s lead in the last two miles, then held off Mann at the line, to win in 42 minutes 16 seconds—the same time as Mann. McLean was third in 44:21.

- RAMS, Invaders strike first
The ESHS Rams defeated Amazons 21–15 to take game one of their female division championship series in Raymon Jackson Smith Memorial Softball League last Sunday. Playing without much of the major players, who have returned overseas, Rams connected for nine hits as Bria Smith went 5 for 5 with four runs scored and four runs batted in. Kennisha Powell was 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three runs batted in.

In an attempt to correct an ugly situation regarding the status of two national players, the BVI Basketball Federation (BVIBF) moved last week to partially reinstate the players, allowing them to compete in the local league.
