Guy Eldridge Memorial Race Set for July 17
The Guy Eldridge Memorial Race for the Manhattan Trophy between West End Yacht Club and RBVIY is slated for Saturday, July 17. This year, there will be a race to Oceans 7 Beach Club, sponsors of the event.
At Oceans 7, there will be a Laser relay race undertaken in accordance with pirate rules.
Eldridge was a well known sailor and lawyer who passed away on March 26 during the Rolex Regatta in St. Thomas.
At Eldridge’s memorial, Commodore of the Loyal West End Yacht Club, Martin Van-Houten, disclosed that one of Guy’s favourite races, the Manhattan Yacht Club Race, would have been renamed the Guy Eldridge Memorial Race because of his passion for the race. Van-Houten further stated that Guy was also very instrumental in soliciting persons to attend races, especially with the Loyal West End Yacht Club.
You can download the Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions and Entry Forms at www.rbviyc.org/index.php/racing-a-cruising/racing/racing-calendar/nor-a-si.
